Giza/Cairo

Highlight of our life!
Viator Tour - 10/10
'Giza pyramids sphinx ATV bike Lunch camel shopping & dinner show' ($126.57 per person)
Wow, where do we begin? This is 1,000% worth every penny, we probably underpaid for this experience. This tour includes the following: private driver for the entire day, private tour of the 3 main pyramids and sphinx, history lecture, making your own papyrus paper like ancient Egyptians did, 15 min camel ride, 1 hour ATV bike ride in dessert, learning about Egyptian spices and oils, and a Nile river cruise. The cruise was such a blast, there was a belly dancer, a tantra dancer (guy that spins fast), a buffet dinner, live music, and a crew that truly enjoys their job. Drinks are not included. Not to mention all the people you will interact with HAVE to have been trained in photography. They take so many photos of you, I didn't take my phone out once. They even know all the poses. However, every single person expects a tip so keep that in mind. But the highlight of this day was the people. Our tour guide Karim was so knowledgeable, funny, and kind. Emad (nicknamed Van Diesel), our driver, was our favorite person. He went out of his way to make our night special and make us feel safe. When the tour came to an end and he was meant to drop us off back at the hotel, he drove us into town. We had dessert together and we met his friends before actually driving us home. Above and beyond. Trust me you will have so much serotonin coursing through you!!
Tree Trunk Rooftop - 8/10
This little cocktail/appetizer spot has a great atmosphere! Try the traditional Egyptian dessert, it tastes like the wheat-thin cereal but like better. A local hidden gem!
Civilization Museum - 9/10
This is the newest of museums in Giza. The mummies are so well displayed and all the artifacts have descriptions in multiple languages, great for everyone. The student discount will get you an entry ticket for 300 EGP. We did not have a chance to go to the original museum but all of the locals say it blows this one out of the water, so let us know if you try it!
Khan el-Khalili - 7/10
This is not for the faint of heart. It is a long stretch of shops and merchants selling everything from snacks to clothes to bra's, to jewelry, to souvenirs. It is loud and crowded but you can find some hidden gems and immerse yourself in the Egyptian culture! We got the most perfect scarfs that are made right there in Cairo.
King Pyramids View Hotel - 10/10
This is a newer hotel super close to the pyramids. It is 60 USD per night for a room, but it is worth it. The rooms are beautiful, spacious, and luxurious. They feel more expensive than just $60. But the rooms are not why you should stay here, the staff is. We woke up to a morning wake-up call bright and early and ushered upstairs to the rooftop. The general manager had cleared it out to make us a traditional grand Egyptian breakfast with a great view of the pyramids. He said he wanted to show us what Egypt is really like since it was our first time in the country. It was so special. He even drew both our names in Arabic and hieroglyphics as a kind gesture!
